Chemo Round 2

We went back down to MDA last weekend to get my second round of chemo.  Sadly, my liver function hadn't improved, so I wasn't able to add another type of chemo but I was still able to do the same regiment as last time.  Everything else went pretty smoothly.  The only time I felt ill and threw up is ironically when they gave me the anti-nausea medication.  I stayed there for 2 hours to get the first chemo and the second chemo they have to give me over 72 hours.  So, I take this purse thing home with me that continues to give me chemo over 72 hours and then on Monday night, we went back and they removed the line.  Then we went back to Dallas.

When we arrived at MDA, they told us to go to elevator A and got to 7th floor.  Then they told is to go towards elevator C to meet with the doctor.  After the doctor visit, I had a Ultrasound scheduled, so they told us to go to the skybridge ( a golf cart looking thing to transport us quarter of a mile) to take us to elevator T.  I felt like I was at a airport, going from one terminal to another.  This place was HUGE.  Lots of coffee shops, cafeteria and gift shops along the way too!  My husband definitely go his steps in that day rolling me around in a wheel chair from one side to another.

My sister-in-law recommended a acupuncturist and I tried it for the first time!  He said the acupuncture will help me feel "relax" and help me sleep better.  When I got home, I felt so sleepy and slept really well in the afternoon and then slept really well at night too.  I went back for the second time a few days later and the same thing.  It did make me sleep a lot better, since I hadn't been sleeping that well.  That was really nice.

My next chemo will be here at UT Southwestern in 2 weeks, so we don't have to keep doing the drive.  Very thankful for that!

Please continue to pray for:

  • My liver function to improve
  • Praise that my red blood cell count went up
  • I had 2 days of no bowel movement, which gave us some concern, but thankfully it came on the third day.  Please pray that my colon will not get obstructed.
  • My kids are having a blast with their cousins in CS.  My 2 sisters are taking care of 8 kids in all, so please pray that they won't be too worn out!
Thank you so much for all the meals, prayers and well wishes that continue to pour out for our family.  We really appreciate all the support that you guys have shown us.
