Chemo #9

Chemo #9 went pretty well.  They took out 2 of my chemo that I have been doing since Chemo #1, one that causes mouth sores and the other that causes cold sensitivity.  I think that made it a little easier on my body.

Very happy to share that my mouth sores are pretty much gone!  I can eat solids again!  Those mouth sores were pretty painful, so I'm very very delighted that is now gone!

I'll be getting a blood transfusion tomorrow, since I'm anemic.  I've never had a blood transfusion before, so please pray that it would go smoothly.  It'll be a four hour process and, hopefully, it'll give me much more energy.  I've been taking lots of naps the last few weeks, so looking forward to having some more energy!

Thank you again for all your prayers for me and my family!  I'm now counting down - 3 more chemo to go - then most likely switch over to "maintenance" chemo, which should be much more milder.  I cannot believe I've already done 9 rounds.  I would not be where I am at without all of you!  Thank you!

Blood Test #9

My CEA decreased again to 2500!

There is a remote chance to qualify for a liver transplant, even with cancer.  One of the qualification (among many more) is that  my CEA needs to be under 100.  I'm hoping by end of the 4 more cycles, it'll be under a 100!

CT Scan

Had my CT scan last week and my liver has decreased in size from 24cm to 20 cm (normal liver size is 12 cm).  The tumor has shrunk but still has lots more to go!  I also had a blood test done the same day (Tuesday) and my white blood cell count was really low.  That would explain my Thrush and my mouth sores.  However, I got my blood test back today (Friday) and my white blood cell count is back to normal!  I still have one large mouth sore, which makes it hard to eat and talk but the other ones have already gone away!

I feel like I've been blessed with very minimal side effects till now.  This mouth sores and diarrhea has really taken me out.  Glad my sister came down from CA to help me out!  Please continue to pray that the side effects will remain minimal!

Oral Thrush

Not rush, lush or brush.😁  I found out, I have oral thrush (a yeast/fungus infection) in my mouth which was causing my mouth pain.  I've never heard of it before.  I'm very thankful for my husband that when he saw my mouth with white stuff covering it, he knew it was oral thrush, so we went to the doctor and got some anti-fungal mouth wash which has helped my mouth a lot.  I still have some pain when I swallow but not as bad.

Thank you for all your prayers!  I'm glad we found out what was causing my pain and there is a solution for it!

Chemo #8

Update:

My hiccups have stopped!  But now my mouth and throat hurt when I eat and swallow.  Would you please pray for me that this will stop and that I would be able to eat again.  I've been eating mostly liquid food, so it'll be nice if I could eat solids again.  Thankfully, no nausea and no throwing up!  Thanks!

------------------

Chemo #8 is down on the books!  This one went pretty well.  I had some nausea but no throwing up!  I've been tired since Sunday but that's to be expected.  I'm getting my energy back today and no nausea today!  I am having hiccups for some reason and it's fine during the day but I'm starting to get them at night.  Please pray that my hiccups will go away at night, so I can get some sleep!

Tomorrow is my CT scan and then a doctor's visit to go over the CT scan next week!

Thank you again for all your prayers, love and encouragement!  I really couldn't be where at today without you all!  Thank you!

Blood Test #8

It was quite a week, to say the least!  I came home Tuesday afternoon and still had had diarrhea Weds night.  Thankfully, no more vomiting though!  Then had a good night sleep Thursday but had diarrhea again Thursday afternoon (no vomiting!).  I will take diarrhea any day above throwing up!  😀  Today I feel much better, I'm hoping it's finally over!

Another good news!  My CEA count is down again!  That's down another 36%!  Goal is 0!

Thank you again for all your prayers.  I wouldn't have made it through this week without your love and prayers!  Thank you!

Back Home

Kaori is back home and resting! She has not had another episode of vomiting since 7 am yesterday. While we are unsure what caused the severe abdominal pain and vomiting, we are glad it has stopped. Thank you for your prayers!

ER 3/6/2022

Kaori was admitted to Methodist Richardson for severe abdominal pain and vomiting. Around 8:00 pm on Sunday, Kaori started to have abdominal pain. She took some morphine. However she quickly had vomiting and diarrhea. We were hoping those symptoms would go away. However after 4 vomiting incidents, we decided to take her to the ER. They drew blood, urine sample, chest X-ray and took a CT scan. After several medications which did not help with the vomiting, they gave her fentanyl and the vomiting finally stopped around 1:30.

Currently, the doctor does not think there is an obstruction. But she will be admitted tonight for observation given her severe symptoms and the medications to control it.

Please pray that the medication will continue to work to stop her vomiting and pain and that she can recover quickly. Also, please pray that it is nothing serious and that she can continue her chemotherapy.

*Update. The fentanyl anti nausea effect only last 1.5 hours. It is back again.

Chemo #7

Chemo #7 is done!!  It felt a little tougher the first 3 days than before but we made it!!  I actually threw up for the first time but it only happened once (very thankful).  Then had pretty low energy until today.  My hemoglobin was a little low, so that probably contributed to it.  The nurse asked if I wanted a blood transfusion, so maybe if it's low again, we might give that a try.

Next week is Spring Break for my kids.  They are heading down to College Station to spend time with their cousins and  I'll getting some nice R&R here in Dallas.

Thank you for all your prayers!!  After chemo #8, I'll be getting another CT scan.  Hoping my tumors in my liver and my liver has shrunk!
