On Helping:
Me: Hannah, can you help me put away your clothes, please?
H : No, thank you.
Friend that is visiting: Hannah, I think your mom would appreciate it if you help her.
H : (in a very enthusiastic & encouraging tone) Mom, you can do it!
Me: ... yes, technically I can but that's not the point.
On Sharing:
Mike: That's my blanket!
H : You need to share, Daddy!
Mike: Why?
H : Because I want it!
Mike: Are you going to share your toys when your friend E comes over?
H : NO!
On Eating Too Much:
H : I'm all done. Mommy, are you all done?
Me: No, not yet. I'm still hungry.
(She rubs my stomach)
H : You're all done. Your tummy is too big!

Binding Feet
In the Asian culture, small feet are seen as beautiful. So, way back when they would bind little girls feet to keep them small.
We took Hannah to the shoe store and we pulled a couple of shoes from the shelves. We asked her which one she liked, "The red one or the purple one?" She answered, "The big one!" I told her that the big one was too big. It was a size and half bigger than her current shoe!
Then we measured her foot. She needs to be wearing 2 sizes bigger than her current shoe.
Ooops ...

It's only a little bit!!
We are still working on potty training at night. So, if she has a dry diaper in the morning, she gets a sticker. The other day though, Mike brought home a small toy for her. He told her she can have the toy if she has a dry diaper the next morning.
Conversation the next morning:
H: I have a dry diaper!
K: No, you didn't have a dry diaper. It was wet.
H: I want a dry diaper! I want a dry diaper!
K: You diaper wasn't dry.
H: I want a dry diaper! I want a dry diaper!
K: Look Hannah, your diaper wasn't dry.
H: It's only a little bit!!
K: Yes, but it's still not dry!
.. I feel like this is the type of conversation I will be having for the next 15 years. I just can't believe it already started.

Cost/Benefit Analysis by 3 year old
After dinner, we laid down on our bed. Hannah came over and brought a box of cookies that Mike had bought for her. Mike told Hannah, "If you want to come into Mommy & Daddy's bed, you have to pay Daddy with cookies."
First, Hannah said, "No!". Then when Mike tried to take her cookies, she ran off the bed and put them on the couch by our bed, then ran back. When Mike started going for the cookies, she rushed back and grabbed the cookies.
Mike said again, "If you want to get into Mommy & Daddy's bed, you need pay Daddy with cookies."
Hannah looked at her cookies and started walking out of our bedroom. Then she stood in door way starring at her cookies. She must have stood there for atleast a minute. She was contemplating very hard what to do.
Then she turns around with a big smile on her face, runs back to the bed, jumps onto the bed and hands Mike the cookies. She told Mike, "Here you go!". Apparently, getting into Mommy & Daddy's bed was worth the cookies.
Now, how to keep her out of our bed. She still comes over in the middle of the night and takes up half our bed ... =(
